The term “Karma” is widely overused, particularly in the United States, as an explanation for luck, fate, or destiny. Many scholars and historians have defined the Theory of Karma as religious beliefs that form a cosmic principle that each person is rewarded or punished according to their deeds – the act of bringing results, good or bad, upon oneself.
Defining Karma™ was trademarked by GABE Advisors, LLC, a firm founded by author and creative entrepreneur G. A. Beller. It is a program designed to identify and sponsor the development of original literary works that attempt to define the meaning of Karma. GABE’s mission is to provide financial grants and resources to aspiring writers whose stories offer unique opportunities for the publication of literary works, as well as the prospect of adaptation for film or television.
Over a period of eighteen months, the Defining Karma™ Grant Committee reviewed numerous submissions. A number of stories were well written, but were not the right fit. In mid-2016, Anthony Licata submitted Hannibal’s Niece for consideration. Beller and the team knew immediately they had found their first author. A focus group was enlisted to read the manuscript, and all reviewers agreed with overwhelming enthusiasm that Hannibal’s Niece is a brilliant work of historical fiction.
The Grant Committee of GABE Advisors is proud to award the Defining Karma™ Grant for Literature to Anthony R. Licata for his outstanding novel, Hannibal’s Niece, and hope to see more from this talented author in the future.
GABE Advisors, LLC has teamed with G. Anton Publishing (www.gantonpublishing.com) and its production company to encourage the submission of stories from aspiring writers with the intent to identify and sponsor additional talent.
